Kristina Lovaas holds a Meisterschülerin from Städelschule Frankfurt. Her studio practice explores touch, care, and the impossibility of touch within the exhibition space, working primarily in ceramics, fabric, and mixed media sculpture. Earlier bodies of work engaged with beauty culture through metal, frosting, and mixed media installations, while more recent work has turned to ceramic and textile objects that examine empathy, failure, and the polemics of self-care. Recurring concerns include the corporal vocabulary of the embrace, personal intimacy as a site that resists language, and the tension between care as an ideal and its material or relational impossibility. Since taking on roles as Director of Artuner, curating exhibitions, and pursuing her PhD at TU Berlin, her studio practice has slowed, though its preoccupations continue to inform her curatorial and scholarly work.
